Blog Post of the Day:
What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Do you have any traditions? Go in to detail about your plans for the 5 day weekend

For thanksgiving my family is eating as usual with something different than the usual turkey for thanksgiving. This year we'll probably go melting pot style again. That is boiling and eating the meat our selves in a fondue pot. We have no traditions for Thanksgiving  and we have no special plans at all for the break. We are literally just winging it.

Reflecting on the comments and grade of your stop-motion animation... what you would do differently if you had to do it all over again? Would you manage your time better? Find better lighting for your photos? Come up with a better idea? Explain what you would change about your video.

The change I would make to my video would be first that of who was taking the pictures. The second would be that I remembered that my hat light was on while the pictures were being taken. I would also like to take more time to take more pictures. I also would like something to hold the camera still and stationary .That's all i'd change about my video, I wouldn't change the general blue fire idea though because its too cool.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your weekend.

Over my weekend we did no do much because of the freezing temperature outside. The 2 things of note I did were going to see the movie interstellar, where I got into a lengthy debate over theories and black holes with my friend. The other was making a more than expectedly creepy smiling face of blue fire in my backyard for the stop animation project.

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your experience with taking your stop-motion photos. What problems did you run in to? What did you find difficult about the process? What would you go back and change about HOW you took the photos? Explain yourself.

My experience with stop animation picture taking was very short. I used my phones function to take a lot of photos. I however would go back and prepare more for what I took pictures of, because I took mine in a rush. However I think they are very cool with my simple yet unique idea I created a small circle of small blue flames. The problem I ran into was that I couldn't make it a continuous circle so I made a bunch of circles of fire instead. What I found was difficult was lighting the flame fast enough to take the pictures before the flame went out. I also intend to add more of these photos to the stop animation.

November 11th 2014

For my Stop Animation project I have 2 ideas I have narrowed down to. The first is of someone finding a remote that can actually pause the world. This person will then mess with his friend in his paused state till he accidentally hits play and the friend takes revenge. My second idea is a little  weird. It involves my dogs appearing everywhere i go till eventually there chasing me in the woods and eventually corner me at the school. There they give me back the ball I threw.

What is stop motion animation? If you don't know, look it up! Explain.

Stop motion is what was used to make the new box trolls movie. Its a series of tiny adjustments and picture taking to make objects appear they are moving. Its often used for older movies and generally takes a extremely long time to make one movie.

5 Frame Storyboard

November 5th 2014

Blog Post of the Day:
Tell me about your idea for your 5 frame story board. What is the plot? How do you plan to make the story creative? Who's the main character? What is the beginning, middle and end? Tell me about your plan of attack.

My plot is simple, Nathan drops an eraser, and I pick it up. Then I search for him and find him, running up to him. Finally I give him back his eraser its a little improvised seeing as how i only had 10 mins to come up with and take all 5 pics.

Yesterday you edited and uploaded photos to your blog. Tell me more about your photos. HOW did you edit them? Why did you choose the photos that you did? Explain your assignment.

I picked the first picture because I thought that it would look kind of cool in black and white. the second picture I choose was because it was simple and easy to do. I did think about burning his hands though. The third pic I thought looked really cool with the special eye designs  and went with red so it looked sentinalish. the fourth pic was of my seat partner and I choose this because he would not smile. The last pic I turned and made slightly more colorful and choose it because they were the only ones in the school who would smile in a picture.

Over my weekend which I include Halloween was very bland. on Friday I simply went to my friends house  to hang out a bit till we both went over to another friends house till 11 pm and then i came home. When I got home I took the remaining trick or treater's candy and stripped it of all recces peanut butter cups and sweet tarts remaining. On Saturday I slept in played video games for hours, then I went and shot air soft guns in the garage(the revolver shooting no powder shells would still be to loud) and sharpened my throwing and boot knives while watching the Italian Job. On Sunday I slept in and mowed lawns, then built a fire for my family in our fire pit in the backyard and we all listened to comedy central on Sirius XM.

Blog Post of the Day:
What do you know about photography and/or photo editing? Do you take photos? How do you take photos? Do you edit photos before posting them on social media? How do you edit them? Explain any background or knowledge you have about photography and photo editing. Do you like it? Do you have any interest?

All i know about taking photos is using the setting on my phone or my mom's special camera. the only editing I've ever done are using the options on my phone. I take photos of things that look cool, funny or interesting. I don't post many on social media so I usually only crop them. I have no prior knowledge in photo taking. I have no interest to learn about it.

Tell me about your weekend. Share pics!

My weekend was pretty bland. All I did was watch TV, mow a lawn, practice guitar, and listen to the comedy channel with my parents by our homemade fire pit. This guy John Capurela was hilarious! the song i'm practicing for guitar is hotel California but were still learning some of the cords for it so it will take a while. I have a lot of trouble with my bar cords. bar cords are where you  place one finger on most or all six strings and other frets further down and still play every string. Its harder for me because I have small hands.

Below is a letter written to the editor who wrote the article 'Enforcement of dress code creates negative effect' that your blogged about last week. Most of you wrote on your blog that you agreed with the writer. What are your thoughts after reading the letter below and seeing a different perspective. Are they the same? Are the different? Do you agree? Disagree? Explain yourself.

My opinion is actually almost entirely the same. The only article above states a lot about being a professional adult and having a time and place to wear the attire being discussed but never tells what they're opinion about where this attire should be worn. There is also a difference between what a teacher can wear to school and what a student should be allowed. At school a teacher is at work, doing their jobs to educate us which calls for somewhat professional clothing. Students, however much they are learning are doing more than just cramming for tests. They are learning to deal with other people and situation they'll experience in life with their peers. They're socializing which calls for more freedom of dress, although not out of control. Other than that my opinion has stayed the same. I'd also like to say that yes the Administrations intentions are good, but the way they go about is often flawed,

I personally don't know what kind of life I will have but I do know if I were to take classes towards preparing for life there would be some big changes. If I wanted to be a business man for example I would be taking classes entirely focused on business and finance and real world situations of a business. these seven classes would be somewhat like the following.

1. Business Essentials
2. Personal Finance
3. Business Internship
4. Web Design
5. Marketing
6. Promoting
7. Real World Situations

We would study up on the basics of business and left to develop the finer points of it on our own. We would spend time in class by going over the basics of each essential topic but always using relevant real world situations. These classes would be vastly different from the current one because they wouldn't be confined to just what some book is telling you or what the school expectations of business are.

The following article was in the September issue of The Tiger Print. Read the article (even if you already have) and respond to it below. What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree? Consider all perspectives of the article while you respond.

In my opinion, the teachers of blue valley high should not "sneer" at students sarcastically because they don't agree with that students outfit. I think that while some restriction is good that there should be limits to how much a teacher can limit. If the teacher knows you or is familiar with you than i think its fine if they speak up. But, if said teacher doesn't know said student, they should pull the student aside at a convenient time without drawing attention like as peaple are leaving at the bell. in my opinion, based of this article that a teacher should simply provide a warning and tell them if their outfit is inappropriate today not to wear it the next day. The students shouldn't have to change in the middle of the day, it can wait till the next day.

Over my weekend i kinda blew some homework off till the last minute. But I also participated in a 2v2 FIFA 15 tournament with fellow JV soccer players and 2 from c team but me and my partner both lost. twice. the runner up team had a friend of mine on it but his partnher tanner botts carried them the whole way. it was kinda unfair because me and my partner hadn't played in 3 years and 6 months respectively and our opponents play it constantly.

What is an infographic? If you don't know, go look it up. Read about it and then in your own words tell me what an infographic is. What do infographics do? How do they work? What makes a really good infographic?

A info graphic it seems is a fancy word for a graph to represent data often seen in commercials. they're supposed to represent "a thousand words" for each graph or chart i guess by showing all the data in one image. A really good info graphic from a business perspective makes your product look good and the other inadequate. Usually this is only by a very small margin but the graph is set in a way to mislead into thinking its much better than its competitor.

Tell me about your Homecoming weekend! If you didn't participate in the Homecoming festivities, what did you do? Share pics!

My homecoming weekend was okay. I didn't participate in the actual HC dance for two reasons though. One i didn't want to deal with the whole hasel of wearing a suit and dancing and having the awkward dinner with someone I don't even like. I mean why go if your not going with someone you actually have a relationship with?  The other reason was that I just didn't have anyone to ask that i thought would say yes. Over the weekend I finally got paid after 2 months of mowing lawns and went to see "The Maze Runner" with 4 friends on HC night.

Imagine Mr. Bacon has asked you to suggest one way of improving Blue Valley High School to make it a better place for students. Think about the changes that are needed at your school. Pick one change you feel would really make a difference and explain what it is and why you'd make the change.

I think late start every day would make the biggest and best difference in our school. Most teens have so much homework that they stay awake till at least midnight or its just t.v or other activities. Either way teens aren't getting much sleep and theirs nothing the school can do or should do to control students outside of school during their lives. So I think that a later start each day would give students a few extra hours of sleep and so the'yd be more awake during school instead of sleeping through first and second hour.

My favorite apps on my phone are probably vine, calculator, and rise of berk. I love to just find funny videos on vine when i'm board and have a good laugh. I like calculator because it means i almost never have to do math in my head anymore and i always have a calculator. I like rise of berk because it a fun game and I've loved the movies since the first one came out years ago. I also like the contacts app so I don't have to remember phone numbers anymore.

What is email? When do you use email in your own personal life? List reasons and ways that people use email. What do you know about "email etiquette"?

An email is e letter sent over the internet almost instantly to another person or company that has mostly replaced writing letters on actual paper. I personally don't use email much other than a couple time but in personal life people could send emails to organize things. They could organize a party or dinner, maybe keep people in the loop of events for a certain group. I personally don't know the etiquette of emails but i'd think they would be the same as if you were talking to a friend or family or in a business like matter.

Now that you've been in Emerging Technology for several weeks... what do you think? Do you think the web tools (Drive, Evernote, Bubbl, etc.) are helpful to you? Do you think they will be helpful throughout high school or even college? Explain.

I think that Emerging technologies class would be handy for a couple years after passing but then the tech will have evolved. By the time i'm in college ill be using outdated apps or websites the younger kids. Drive will still probably be useful however. If they ever come out for an update for Evernote it should be that it automatically MLA formats your sources. As of now however the tools are very helpful.

Do you enjoy writing? When do you enjoy it? What kind of writing do you enjoy? Why do you think the ability to write is so important no matter what kind of writing it is? Give an example that you enjoyed writing or hated writing. Why?

No I have never enjoyed writing. I d not enjoy it because i do not wasting time writing about pointless topics ill never talk or remember the next day or after. I also don't like the stress of having to spell everything write and worry about phrases. I f i had to choose id say i like to write narrative or comparative essay's. I understand the importance of writing though.  Writing is important because it is a form of communication for one and its used in every day life all the time. Not just writing it but understanding it such as in a contract. One occasion i hated writing was when we had to do a comparative essay and i had writers block for 20 of the 40 min's allowed so I barley finished by the end.

Reflect on this quote. Give an example of a time in your life that this might have been the case.

I think this is mostly true but there are cases were people don't have to prepare. Such as those with photographic memory or the subjects come easy to them. I for one didn't have to prepare for tests that much, just a little practice and i'm good. However there have been times were I didn't prepare and failed such as on a math test recently or at guitar and i hadn't practiced in a long while so I was really bad.

What is the importance of research? Why do you need to know how to research? What have you learned in high school about researching topics and finding quality resources? Have you had a helpful teacher that has taught you to research? Explain.

The importance of research is for learning significant information about a topic or learning new information in general. We need to know how to research for future studying opportunities and for college. We also need to know how to research for later in life such as when theirs a problem we can't solve to find the answers online. What I've learned in high school about researching is that you must always look for credible sources to start. Second that when writing a paper you must always cite your sources. In freshman year Mrs. Bakalar helped me to study more successfully.

Tell me about the global issue you selected. What do you already know about the issue? What are you looking forward to learning about it? Explain.

I selected the global issue of blood diamonds. I Knew vaguely that Blood diamonds were caused by wars and one side taking prisoners to harvest them by brutal force. This was thrown into the global public eye during 1991 till 2001 in Africa. I knew that the people forced to work were brutalized and killed, and the diamonds they found were taken to be used as funding for the war they'd been captured in. I would like to learn if There is more then just that occurrence of blood diamond brutality. I would also like to know if there are some events that were swept under the rug so to speak by the country's own government.

Yesterday I asked your to "think differently" and push yourself to be uncommon with your PSA project using Google Slides. Why do you think I asked you to do that? What is the point? Why not just use bullets and headers? Explain.

I think the point of out teacher asking us to do this is because she doesn't like generic similar power points an grading them over and over. I think she wanted something different so she restricted us from doing the same thing. I think she asked us not to use bullets and headers because she wanted it to be more like a actuall PSA an less like a power point for school.

My thoughts on this are mixed and it  made me feel like this guy's never had fun before. I agree on the fact that teens could stop whining all the time but to have no fun? This guy is nuts to put it in a friendly way. With ought fun for kids teens and yes even adults like this man, this would be a very sad and boring world. If all we did was sleep, work, eat, read, chores, and repeat there would be no point in life. So I say yes you should work, chores and help others but there should always be time for fun

What is a Public Service Announcement? If you don't know what it is, Google it. In your own words, now tell me what it is? What are they used for? Can you recall an example of a PSA you've seen before?

A public service announcement is a announcement made by usually the gov. over T.V or radio for as many people to hear as possible. They are usually used to spread the word about a specific topic, event, war or service in need of funding and is usually not for profit on its own. A example of a PSA I've seen is the dog shelter commercials where animals have been rescued from abusive owners and now sit in cages waiting for adoption.

Monday August 25

After watching the short clip of Ashton Kutcher's acceptance speech what did you take away from his advice? What does this quote mean to you -"Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you, and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use."

I took away that in his experience's he learned three secrets of success that he used and built his life with. I take away that to be smart is better than to try and be something cool or dangerous. I'm not saying you shouldn't take risks in life but stupid risks with no gain other than looking cool is just that stupid. To me Ashton Kutcher's quote means that people getting the same education, and chances made this world what it is, nothing special did that. So we have the chance to build our own worlds or change the one around us for better or worse depending how we go about it.
